Follow the links between records
A label archive is often browsed as a list. Read as a map, it asks more interesting questions: which artists came from the same country, which records were new albums, and which were licensed reissues? The Karmageddon Media entries connect groups such as Dismember and Nocturnus with Forefather and Mael Mórdha. The connection is commercial and historical; it does not imply that the bands shared a musical identity.
That difference is easy to miss when a search engine groups everything under a single label heading. A catalog is a record of decisions—what to sign, reissue, license and distribute—not necessarily a manifesto about genre.
A useful route through the archive
Start with a known band, then follow the label credit to a release and its earlier editions. Compare formats, dates and catalog numbers before drawing conclusions. If one database lists a 2004 CD and another lists a 2005 edition, the discrepancy may refer to different territories or pressings rather than an error.
This guide uses the catalog to build those paths. It keeps the link between a record and its edition visible, and treats broad genre labels as signposts rather than final answers.
